I've mentioned it before, but this section UI is seriously such a downgrade from the old one. It's very irritating to browse and use. The old way to add sections and and pages was one of the best features of Replo. Aside from the UI issues, currently not every section available on page templates is in this view, so you have to go into page templates > duplicate the page template onto a new page > copy the section and add it to the existing page. Before you could add a full page to the existing page and take the section you need.
yeah I hear you on the sections from the page templates not being available in this view - the issue we have right now is because there are so many templates, we need to make sure that they all are integrated to drop in and adapt to the products of the shop you put them in, which means lots of confusion around e.g. if you add in a product box from one of the page templates that is very highly tailored to subscribe and save, but the product you're working on doesn't have subscribe and save - gets really confusing in those scenarios
Is the fact that you have to create a new page to copy/paste in those sections the main issue in your mind? There's also this "browse templates" button in the lower left which will open the page templates view a little easier (you do still need to copy the section back into what you were working on before though)
as for being able to browse/use this more easily - what's the most irritating here? does the categorization not make sense? is it that you can't see as many templates at once? search doesn't work? feels like maybe there are some lower-hanging fruits we could grab here - all the templates are still there but seems like we're not surfacing them the right way
Hey Noah G. thanks for the response on the weekend!
I think your point about having the type of template exactly have to adapt exactly the products on the shop (e.g. adding sub & save to a product template that doesn't have sub & save) is over-simplified. I don't see an element of confusion here unless the user is completely unfamiliar with Replo, as it is easy to remove the S&S elements and update the content.
On the browsing / adding templates: It's difficult to explain the exact reasons why I think the UI is so poor without having a direct comparison to the old version, but I use the new one much less and build sections from scratch a lot more, which is a lot slower. My workflow is to have an idea for the section I want (e.g. problem, solution), then try to find a suitable section template to display the content.
In the current full page template view, when you browse page templates you have to hover your mouse over the template and wait for a slow scroll to see all the sections, which is especially slow to view templates on mobile.
There used to be the option to view and filter all sections like this within the page editor as a popup, which was much easier. I believe this included every possible section, with lots of filtering options and a search, which was great.
In the current UI for adding sections, the section previews are very small and you can't view the mobile version.
I also believe certain filtering options were removed but can't state which without a direct comparison.
It's hard to remember all the differences exactly considering the old UI was removed quite a while ago now, but I consistently find myself not adding in section templates as much with the new UI. I have been using Replo for over 2 years and can confidently say this change has made my workflow slower and has made my experience worse. So my view would be to switch back to the original section / page templates UI. It was one of the best features of Replo and the main reason I started using the platform in the first place
Yeah got it, so basically the browsing experience is just not as good, and you can’t view the mobile versions. We’re going to look into how to make this better - we wanted to really make sure templates were accessible in the left bar, since people who are unfamiliar with Replo didn’t even know about the template library before, but I’m pretty sure there’s a better compromise here
I kind of get the opposite from new clients, they come to me saying we love the library they have, that’s why we are using Replo
And they don’t know anything about Replo
Recently I had to create 6 pages just to extract specific sections, I just defaulted to creating it myself
