Impact of Replo on Page Speed and Template Management Advice

·
·

Hey everyone, I want to know how Replo affects page speed. My client is struggling with a low score on both mobile and web. We did an audit and found multiple issues. They are using Replo to build their whole site, not just landing pages. For every product page, they create a new product template instead of creating metafields and metaobjects and using that to dynamically serve content. I want to know how Replo manages serving web pages. If we consolidate our templates and create metafields and reduce the number of product templates in replo to 1-2, will it impact site speed?

hey hey! https://support.replo.app/articles/1720848503-optimizing-shopify-page-speeds has all the details you need about page speed. depending on the issues there's going to be different ways to resolve them, but I will say like 99% of the time we see page speed issues, it's because images below the fold need to be set to lazy loaded. This page goes into a bunch more detail on other issues too

Replo just creates templates in your Shopify theme, so using less individual templates won't make things faster. I'd follow that guide and make sure you're doing all the best practices there, and you can always reach out to the support team if you need more help

Thanks. Our website loads quickly but doesn't finish loading until 10+ seconds. On mobile, it shows a progress bar that gets stuck until 10+ seconds. We're trying to optimize the website so that it finishes loading faster because even though you can use the website while it's loading, the progress bar makes one think they should wait for it to load completely. I have gone through the resource you sent. Thanks for sharing. Tackling the app issue first as we found a bunch of apps that were not being used but still installed

yeah, usually when that happens there's a big video on the page or something, in which case you might want to load through youtube or vimeo. Recommend reaching out to our support team and they can help analyze a page speed report, they can also look at the page directly to help you find any big video assets

Yes, the load time reduced from 15+ seconds to 5 seconds. so that was a huge impact.

I just removed the video element. we are going to rebuild the section using Youtube videos instead of self hosted
